IN THEIR OWN WORDS

The Bletchley Park Codebreakers: in their own words, Joel Greenberg.

This new book tells the story of Bletchley Park through letters written by key players to former colleagues and loved ones as the war unfolded and in the years that followed it. Over one hundred letters have been included and were either recovered from family members or declassified by GCHQ. They reveal fresh information about the clandestine operation and disclose the true feelings of some of those involved with the intelligence activities based at Bletchley Park.

In contrast to most early accounts which drew on official or sanctioned material, this book lays bare the day-to-day experiences at Bletchley Park and uncovers the operations; and technical reasons behind the organisation's successes and failures. Some letters provide details of parts of the Bletchley Park organisation often overlooked such as Communications Security, machine analysis of data and traffic analysis.

Additional supporting material, referenced in the book, is available in this section.
